About university : The foundation stone of Gyanvihar was laid by Acharya Shree Purushottam Uttam on 19 February 1994. On 26 March 2008, the Rajasthan State Assembly unanimously passed a bill declaring Suresh Gyan Vihar University as the first Research and development based university of the Jaipur. Late Mr Suresh Sharma was a major contributor behind establishing the university.

About university : On 22nd October, 2007, the Government of Rajasthan announced the establishment of Jaipur National University. It was a historical day for the Mahima Shiksha Samiti, the society responsible for the management of the Seedling Institutions of Higher Education, which conjugated to form the University. It has been honoured with approval and recognition from all the national bodies, including the University Grants Commission (UGC), under the University Act of 1956.
