Kakatiya Medical College is located in the city of Warangal and about 136 km from Hyderabad(the capital of Andhra Pradesh)
It was founded in 1959. It was founded by the Warangal Regional Medical Education society.
Honourable Sri P. Karnakar, Minister of Health, Government of India was inaugurated the college on 23 July 1959 .
Kakatiya Medical College spread in an area of 152.17 acres. College has its permanent building.

Currently Kakatiya Medical College is one of the premier medical college/institutes of the state Andhra Pradesh, it is taking in 150 students per year through a competitive entrance examination called the EAMCET (Engineering Agricultural and Medical Common Entrance Test). EAMCET held throughout the state Andhra Pradesh.

The college has its own magazine named Kakati.
