Career in astronomy course
Introduction:
All of us are fascinated towards the twinkling stars and the moon. They keep one wondering from where they come, sparkle whole night, vanish and then again come back next night. Astronomy is quite fascinating study of planet, meteors, and celestial bodies.
It tries to solve the mysteries of these heavenly bodies like showering of meteors, an kind of life beyond earth.
It is the science that deals with the study of heavenly bodies.
(1) About their motions, both real and apparent, and the laws which govern those motions.
(2) Their nature, dimensions, masses, surfaces and enviornmental status.
(3) About constitution, and physical status.
(4) The effects which is produced by their attractions and radiations on each other.
(5) Any kind of future development.
Nature of work:
If one is curioused to solve mysteries of the universe than one should choose the career of Astronomy. As this subject is not new man is working on studying the motion of celestial bodies since ancient times. But now there is advancement in using technologies and gadgets.The master mind behin this astronomy are well known scientist aryabhatta, bhaskara,sir issac Newton and galilo.
Astronomy is a vast subject .it is further divided into astrophysics, astrobiology, astogeology, astrometry and astrometeorology.
Though the use of new technology and modern gadgets has made Astronomy a specialized branch of study, it is, in fact, a very old science. Man used to study the motions of planets and heavenly bodies since ancient times. With the development of science and technology, man began to use sophisticated technological gadgets for the purpose. Aryabhatta, Bhaskara, Galileo and Sir Isaac Newton have been some of the best brains in Astronomy since the ages.
This study test the patience of person .one has to gaze day and night in order to understand the motion of these bodies. To collect various information, data, first a person have to analyze, compare and then he can come to conclusion.
Educational qualification:
To have career in astronomy one can opt physics in bsc or mathematics after +2, one can also do b.e/b.tech in Electrical – Electronics-Electrical Communications. As there are no special under graduate program for astronomy one should be graduate in any one of them.
Professional courses:
Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST) is conducted at all India level every year in February to get admission in Ph.D. programme for astronomy.
There is also one-year Joint Astronomy Programme Conducted at Indian Institute of Science (IISc.), Ban galore. TIFR, Mumbai and Inter – University,pune are some places which offer a research career in GTR and Cosmology.

Career prospects:
After completing course in Astronomy, one can be placed as a Research Scientist with many research institutes and Government organizations like the Indian Space Research Organization (DRDO). One can also join non-profit organizations like the Association of Ban galore Amateur Astronomers (ABAA) which itself capable in telescope making, organizing observation sessions for the public and to generate fascination for Astronomy among people. One can work as a junior researcher as a beginner in already existing team.
